The aim of this site is to offer examples of my work and provide a contact address.
I document events, people and places that I believe have an enormous cultural value but are ignored by mainstream media.
My films attempt to reflect the energy, enthusiasm, talent, and creative spirit of people within my home city of HULL and I also try to offer content with a universal philosophical appeal that hopefully connects with people far beyond the boundaries of East Yorkshire. My films have been selected for viewing at film festivals in the UK, Europe, and America.
This site contains some of the work that I have produced over the last couple of years. My creative philosophy is evident in my work. I hope my films illustrate and amplify the power and potential of the individual to have a positive effect on the wider human community.
2017 was a busy year and as well as creating films that capture the cultural and artistic energy of Hull, I also created campaign material for EMMA HARDY, who is now the LABOUR MP for HULL WEST and HESSLE. I continue to provide material that reflects Emma's work representing the people of HULL. I also continue to provide material for local Trade Union organisations. In the summer of 2017 I won the 'BEST YORKSHIRE SHORT FILM' award at the Hull International Film Festival for my film 'TWO MEN IN A SHED'. This film captures the innovative artistic collaboration between the musician Steve Cobby, and the writer Russ Litten. My film documenting the 30th birthday celebrations at HULL's famous NEW ADELPHI CLUB was selected for viewing at film festivals in America and 'Cross Borders' was also selected for screening as part of the Atlanta Documentary Film Festival. My final work of the year involved creating promotional material for the brilliant 'TURN and FACE the STRANGE' multi-media show celebrating the work of legendary Hull musician Mick Ronson. I was also commissioned to capture the sights, sounds, and philosophy of the 2017 HULL DAY of DANCE. This event was a massive celebration of FOLK CULTURE across nine venues in the city. A selection of my work from 2017 is available to view in the FILMS section of this site.
I have recently created a film for HULL'S NEW ADELPHI CLUB that explains the new financial status of the club and captures the creative philosophy that is a central feature of this unique independent music venue. This film is available to view via the Adelphi website. I have also made a film for the UNIVERSITY and COLLEGES Union explaining the reason for their recent strike action at Hull College. This film is available to view via the UCU's social media. I am currently completing four short documentary films. 2018 has been busy.
I hope to continue to document and amplify the incredible work being produced by the people of HULL and the inspiring work of individuals all over the UK. Human beings can be amazing. I hope my films reflect this fact.
